Members of the Navy Color Guard stationed at Misawa Air Base were invited as guests to march in the 2015 Aomori Ten City Festival Parade in Mutsu, Japan.

The Amori Ten City Festival showcases the cultural identity of 10 cities around the Aomori Prefecture in Northern Japan.

"This festival was a sight to behold," said Navy Counselor 1st Class Richard Effah. "It was great to showcase our honor guard in front of a large amount of people."

More than 20,000 people attended the Ten City Festival this year.

The Honor Guard was incredibly well received and their march was accompanied by much applause from the spectators.

"All the practice and time that goes into honor guard is well worth it for opportunities like this one," said Effah.

The Misawa Navy Honor Guard are readily available when they are called upon. Most recently they performed in Misawa's American Day Parade.

Being a part of the color guard is an opportunity to showcase your command and also yourself as a remarkable sailor.

"It was an honor to be invited and not only represent ourselves and Misawa, but the Navy's presence in Japan," said Effah. "We very much look forward to returning next year."
