FLEET ACTIVITIES YOKOSUKA - Sailors aboard the Los Angeles-class fast-attack submarine USS Oklahoma City (SSN 723) participated in a community service project by volunteering at The Willing Hearts Soup Kitchen during a scheduled port visit in Singapore, Oct. 2.

Ten Oklahoma Sailors joined 50 other volunteers and assisted in preparing and packaging more than 4,600 meals that were distributed to 54 locations across Singapore.

"This COMREL afforded a good opportunity for U.S. Sailors to participate in the local community and work alongside the Singaporean volunteers," said Ens. Samuel Theodoris, the supply officer aboard Oklahoma City.

Willing Hearts Soup Kitchen is a 100 percent volunteer-run, non-profit organization that provides daily meals and other support to the underprivileged, needy and other marginalized people in Singapore regardless of race or creed.

Oklahoma City is home ported in Agana, Guam. It is one of the four submarines that are forward deployed and serving at the forefront of the nation's defense.
