"The efforts of my crew, their hard work and unrivaled performance have all contributed to freedom of navigation and maritime security in 5th Fleet. I am extremely proud of the job they have done this entire deployment."
- Cmdr. Cory Applebee, USS Farragut commanding officer

Quick Facts:

While in 5th Fleet, Farragut conducted exercises with multiple partner and coalition nations in support of Operation Inherent Resolve.

The ship provided support for operations in Iraq and Syria, and maritime security operations, and theater security cooperation efforts as part of the Theodore Roosevelt Carrier Strike Group (TRCSG).

Farragut's return to 6th Fleet marks its conclusion of operations in the Red Sea, Gulf of Aden, Gulf of Oman, Arabian Sea, and Arabian Gulf.

During those operations, the ship conducted successful transits of the Strait of Hormuz and transits of the Strait of Bab-Al-Mandeb, and advanced more than 45 Sailors to the next pay grade.

Farragut is part of the TRCSG, which is composed of the staff of Carrier Strike Group 12, the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71), Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 1, the guided-missile cruiser USS Normandy (CG 60), and the guided-missile destroyers USS Forrest Sherman (DDG 98) and USS Winston S. Churchill (DDG 81).

Farragut, homeported in Mayport, Florida, is conducting naval operations in the U.S. 6th Fleet area of operations in support of U.S. national security interests in Europe.

U.S. 6th Fleet, headquartered in Naples, Italy, conducts the full spectrum of joint and naval operations, often in concert with allied, joint, and interagency partners, in order to advance U.S. national interests and security and stability in Europe and Africa.
