Navy Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) Global Logistics Support (GLS) selected Logistics Specialist 3rd Class Tyshaun Ezell as Junior Sailor of the Year Nov 19.

Master Chief Logistic Specialists from Fleet Logistics Centers (FLC) around the world and the Command Master Chief of NAVSUP GLS gathered together for a week-long event to the select Sailors of the year for the entire NAVSUP enterprise.

Ezell was chosen as NAVSUP GLS Junior Sailor of the Year out of a group of eight candidates that were selected from their individual FLCs. Prior to being selected, Ezell was selected as the Junior Sailor of the Year 2015 and the Junior Sailor of the Quarter (First Quarter 2015) for NAVSUP FLC Bahrain.

Ezell was selected as NAVSUP FLC Bahrain Junior Sailor of the Year for 2015 due to his work in the Naval Support Activity Bahrain Fleet Postal Office, his collateral duties, and his volunteer work for the command and the community.

As the postal deck supervisor he led five junior Sailors, nine local national civilians, and 10 reservists in the daily processing and distribution of over 833,000 pounds of mail.

"His leadership ensured quality customer service and the timely delivery of mail to 6,300 installation personnel and their families," said Senior Enlisted Leader Master Chief Logistics Specialist John Murphy. "Ezell consistently performs at a high level and his dedication to the Navy and NAVSUP shows each and every day whether he is at work or not."

Ezell also serves as the registered mail clerk and in this capacity he processed more than 550 pieces of registered mail with 100 percent accountability. This meant that he had zero discrepancies and in turn was able to earn an outstanding during the 2015 NAVSUP GLS postal audit visit.

He maintains three collateral duties as the command medical readiness, manager mission oriented protective posture (MOPP) gear manager and the United States Postal Service (USPS) equipment manager.

Through these collateral duties, Ezell was a top performer maintaining 100 percent accountability of all 33 postal units valued in excess of $500,000, raising the command's medical readiness from 75 percent to 90 percent exceeding the 80 percent requirement, and ensuring that all command military personnel receive and turn in the proper MOPP gear.

In addition to his collateral duties he is also the command morale, welfare, and recreation (MWR) treasurer and spends his free time participating in community events.

As the command MWR treasurer, Ezell coordinated eight fundraising events which raised $3500 and maintained 100% accountability of all funds associated with the command MWR group.

He also volunteered in several events, picking up trash outside of base, organizing and facilitating command involvement in several 5K base runs, and volunteering his time at the annual NSA Bahrain Nightmare on Spine Street Halloween event for hundreds of children.

"Petty Officer Ezell excels in every task that he is assigned, constantly seeking out greater responsibilities at every turn," said Capt. Sean Egge, commanding officer of NAVSUP FLC Bahrain. "He possesses discipline, flexibility, and an eagerness to contribute to the command's mission and success."
