NAVSUP BSC NEMO Celebrates Its First Year

Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP), Business Systems Center (BSC) and Innovative New Employee Mentoring Opportunity (NEMO) idea celebrated its first year.
Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP), Business Systems Center (BSC) and Innovative New Employee Mentoring Opportunity (NEMO) idea celebrated its first year.

NAVSUP BSC hired 129 new employees since October 2014.

Leaders at NAVSUP BSC came up with an innovative idea of how to offer a mentoring opportunity for the new hires. Their idea launched NEMO.

Why NEMO?

NEMO is a Latin word for "No One" leaves "No One" behind. NEMO provides a community of interest (COI) for those who have been with the command for less than two years. This forum provides opportunities to develop peer relationships, build culture awareness, foster an environment to ask questions and expand upon information received at new employee orientation.

Recently the group celebrated their first year together. The celebration began with opening remarks from Jim DeLorenzo, executive director for NAVSUP BSC.

"My message to you is to encourage each of you to share your ideas with co-workers and leaders," said DeLorenzo. "Quality service from people like you at a good cost will give us repeat business".

The celebration concluded with a birthday card and cupcakes.

The NEMO group meets monthly with an average of 20 participants. Meetings are packed with informative topics and guest speakers.
