Seabees Sailors and Marines from Navy Region Southwest attended the 73rd annual Seabee Ball at the Hard Rock Hotel in San Diego, March 7.

The attendees, from Construction Battalion Maintenance Unit (CBMU) 303, Amphibious Construction Battalion (ACB) 1, Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Southwest and Naval Special Warfare Group One, along with Marines from 1st Marine division, celebrated the 173rd birthday of Naval Facilities Engineering Command, the 148th birthday of the Civil Engineer Corps, and the 73rd birthday of the Seabees.

CBMU-303 was the host command for this year's celebration and was tasked with planning and securing the venue. "I was privileged to lead this event but really, there was a substantial amount of effort from all of the commands that guaranteed us having a successful Seabee Ball", said Lt. Jannira Gregory, executive officer of CBMU-303.

The 73rd annual Seabee Ball program included ACB-1's Honor Guard consisting of the color detail and drill team, and the Marine Band in San Diego sent a detachment to perform as well.

I enjoyed seeing the collective creative output of this year's team - it was truly a great event," said Lt. j.g. David Boyer, ACB-1's Seabee Ball Committee board officer.

Lt. Gen. David H. Berger, I MEF Commanding General, was the guest speaker of the night and made positive comments on the joint effort between the Seabees and Marines and the continued support of both NAVFAC and the Naval Construction Force.
