The U.S. and the Republic of Korea navies are participating in Exercise Silent Shark 2015 in the vicinity of Guam, June 8-12.

The exercise integrates U.S. and Republic of Korean anti-submarine warfare assets to bolster relations and interoperability.

The units participating in Silent Shark include the guided-missile cruiser USS Shiloh (CG 67), a Los Angeles-class fast-attack submarine, a Republic of Korea submarine, and several maritime control and reconnaissance aircraft from the U.S. and the Republic of Korea.

Silent Shark provides an opportunity to utilize submarine vs. submarine tracking and quick reaction simulated engagement as a means to maintain stability throughout the Western Pacific region.

The exercise will also enhance the Republic of Korean navy's ability to recognize and exploit various tracking techniques.

The United States has participated in Silent Shark in the past to contribute to stability and security throughout the vital Asia-Pacific region.
