Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Southeast awarded a potential $95 million contract June 16 to several small businesses for work throughout the South Texas area of responsibility (AOR).

This indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity, multiple award, design-build construction contract (MACC) is for construction projects located primarily within the NAVFAC Southeast AOR which includes South Texas (85 percent).

Work may also be performed in the remainder of the NAVFAC Southeast AOR (15 percent).

"This MACC will provide a much needed acquisition tool to award future task orders competitively and quickly," said NAVFAC Southeast deputy integrated product team leader William Kilpatrick.

Task orders will be issued as needed. The following small businesses are included in this contract award: WEB, LLC of Springfield, Virginia; Solis Constructors, Inc. of Austin, Texas; MJPM Constructors of San Antonio, Texas; Global Engineering and Construction, LLC of Rengon, Washington; Asset Group, Inc. of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Anthony and Gordon Construction Company, Inc. of Knoxville, Tennessee; and FLW-TJC Joint Venture of Prospect, Kentucky.

These seven contractors may compete for task orders under the terms and conditions of the awarded contract as task orders are announced.

Work performed will provide for, but is not limited to, new construction, renovation, alteration, demolition, repair work, and any necessary design including: industrial, airfield, aircraft hangar, aircraft traffic control, infrastructure, administrative, training, dormitory, and community support facilities.

"A number of task orders are already being planned to award on this MACC including repair and/or renovation projects at Naval Air Station (NAS) Corpus Christi and NAS Kingsville," said Kilpatrick.

The contract term will not exceed 36 months with an expected completion date of June 2018.

Small businesses play a vital role in the American economy - employing half of our country's workforce, creating nearly two out of every three new American jobs, and often being the source of the next great American innovation.

NAVFAC Southeast strives to meet its goals building on its success by providing contract opportunities to small businesses.

"NAVFAC SE consistently seeks to provide the maximum practicable opportunity for small businesses to fulfill our mission requirements," said NAVFAC Southeast Small Business Director Nelson Smith. "This multiple-award contract to small businesses gives us another tool to ensure we are engaging small businesses whenever possible."

Each year NAVFAC establishes target goals for small business, small disadvantaged business, historically underutilized business zone small business, service-disabled veteran-owned small business, and women-owned small business categories.

Smith explained that the maximum practicable utilization of small business concerns is a matter of national interest with both social and economic benefits.
