More than 20 recruiters from Navy Recruiting District (NRD) Houston took their positive attitudes to the Houston Food Bank, March 20, where they sorted and packaged hundreds of food boxes.

Houston Navy recruiters and support staff volunteer regularly at the Houston Food Bank, helping the organization feed 800,000 people each year, totaling 56 million meals.

"Navy volunteers come out at least once a month and it's great!" said Houston Food Bank Volunteer Coordinator Tiffanie Holgate. "It makes it easier for us because they already know what they are doing and are experienced. They are also very positive and energetic. This makes the time go by fast and the environment is really fun with them around."

Houston recruiters are visible throughout their communities, committing themselves to volunteer work with the same level of dedication applied while seeking out the best and brightest men and women to serve in America's Navy.

"Giving back to the community and working with a diverse group of volunteers really displays what we love doing in the Navy," said Aviation Boatswain's Mate 1st Class Juan Gonzales. "At our core, it's exactly what being in the service means - helping others."

Navy Recruiting District Houston has a total of 42 Navy recruiting stations dedicated to finding the best and brightest men and women to serve in America's Navy, while also conducting volunteer activities designed to help give back the city of Houston and the surrounding communities they serve.
