Petty Officer 1st Class Amanda Little was a member of a Provincial Reconstruction Team in the Shib Koh District in Farah Province, Afghanistan, in 2010. Little is one of many Navy women who have served as part of Female Engagement Teams in Iraq and Afghanistan. These teams undertook gender-suited tasks to engage with local women and adolescents in situations where male service members’ involvement would have been culturally inappropriate.
