During World War II, Senior Chief Yeoman Norma Schrader served in the WAVES. She was recalled to active duty from the Naval Reserve during the Korean War. Schrader served as a master-at-arms and retired from the Naval Reserve as a senior chief yeoman in 1965. She also retired from civil service at Naval Station Charleston, South Carolina, after 20 years. She is a Charter Member of the Military Women’s Memorial and was honored with their Living Legend Proclamation on her 100th birthday. She is also a Life Member of Triangle Women Veterans Unit 144 of Military Women Across America.
