Karen Davis serves as the executive director for industrial operations at NAVSEA. She is the command’s first deputy commander for the Supervisor of Shipbuilding, Conversion, and Repair (SUPSHIP). She is responsible for executive oversight and support of the four public shipyards encompassing more than 37,000 civilian and military personnel executing major maintenance and modernization availabilities on the Navy’s submarines and aircraft carriers. As deputy commander SUPSHIP, she provides independent administration and management of shipbuilding, conversion, and ship repair contracts. She previously served as both the first woman and first black executive director of Joint Special Operations Command, Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
