Command Senior Chief Jackey Smith became the first woman combat photographer in the Navy to be awarded the Bronze Star. Smith is a breast cancer survivor and was announced cancer free in 2019. She is currently serving as the command senior chief aboard the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS William P. Lawrence (DDG 110).
