Kaye Sweetser

Dr. Kaye Sweetser began her military journey in 1996 on active duty as a seaman apprentice journalist. Sweetser has a career of extraordinary experiences in her wake and is a battle-tested public relations practitioner. Educated using the Navy’s tuition assistance program and the Montgomery GI Bill, Sweetser commissioned into the Navy Reserve as a public affairs officer in 2001. This Afghanistan war veteran is currently a professor of public relations at San Diego State University and a leader in her field (2023). At SDSU, she’s the director of the Glen M. Broom Center for Professional Development in Public Relations and the program coordinator for the Joint Military Service Military Public Affairs Officer Graduate Program. In 2021, PRNEWS named Sweetser the Outstanding Educator of the Year.
