CLJA Filing Deadline Has Passed

The filing deadline set forth in the Camp Lejeune Justice Act (CLJA) has passed.  For that reason, the Department of the Navy is no longer accepting new CLJA claims.  If you filed your CLJA claim by the August 10, 2024 filing deadline, then please log in to access your claim.  If you are not able to access the Claims Management Portal, or if your CLJA claim is not accessible in the Claims Management Portal, then please contact the Camp Lejeune Claims Unit at CLClaims@us.navy.mil or (757) 241-6020.

Camp Lejeune Justice Act

On August 10, 2022, President Biden signed into law the Honoring our Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics (PACT) Act of 2022.

Section 804 of this law is the Camp Lejeune Justice Act (CLJA) of 2022, which allows people — including Veterans — previously exposed to contaminated water at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, to file a new claim with the Department of the Navy.

Individuals may seek relief in Federal court for a claim that is denied, or no decision is made six (6) months after a claim is filed.

Following are links to additional information to help you file a claim and better understand the CLJA claims process:

Fraud Warning!

If you suspect a fraudulent attempt to contact you, please review the following:

1. The Justice Department and the Navy will never request money or payment from you.

2. If an attorney is representing you, direct all inquiries to your attorney for verification. The Justice Department and Navy will not contact you directly and will only contact you through your attorney.

3. Emails from the Navy will be sent from the us.navy.mil domain. You may forward any email you receive to that address to verify authenticity.

4. If you receive a phone call claiming to be from the CLCU or offering assistance with your claim, and you are uncertain, ask for the person’s name and position, then call the CLCU at (757) 241-6020 or email us at CLClaims@us.navy.mil to verify.

5.  Steps to take if you believe your personal information has been compromised can be found here.  Please report fraudulent activity here.

Camp Lejeune Justice Act Claims Management Portal

The Claims Management Portal is now live and available for submitting new claims related to the Camp Lejeune Justice Act of 2022.

  • If you are represented by an attorney, direct all inquiries to your attorney. Do not create a portal account, as this will not link to your existing claim.

  • If you submitted a claim before March 26, 2024, you will receive a notification when your claim has been uploaded to the portal either via email, if an email address was provided, or via the U.S. Postal Service — no action is required for you to create a claim in the portal.

  • If you have not previously submitted a claim and would like to do so, please visit the Claims Management Portal to create an account and begin your claim submission.

  • If you submitted a claim directly via email, or through the US Postal Service or another delivery carrier, and provided an email address in your claim form, you will receive an email with login information for the portal once your claim information has been migrated into the portal. This email will come from NoReply-OJAGCampLejeune@navyjag.onmicrosoft.us. Thank you for your continued patience as we migrate, review, and process Camp Lejeune Justice Act claims.

  • If you did not provide an email address on your original claim form, you will receive a letter via the US Postal Service (at the mailing address provided in your claim form) with instructions on how to set up an account. If your address has changed since you filed your original claim and you have not already provided your updated address to the Camp Lejeune Claims Unit, please contact our call center at (757) 241-6020 or send an email to clclaims@us.navy.mil.
