The CLJA Claims Management Portal is a user-friendly online tool that was specifically developed for use by claimants or their attorneys to electronically file and monitor their claim. The portal also has a messaging function that will allow the claimant and the Department of the Navy to communicate with one another in a secured fashion during the process of adjudicating the claim.

Any person who submitted a claim before March 26, 2024, will receive a notification when their claim has been uploaded to the portal either via email, if an email address was provided, or via the U.S. Postal Service to the mailing address provided on the original claim form. When your claim is ready for your review in the online portal, you will receive an email with login information and further instructions on how to access the portal. This email will come from NoReply-OJAGCampLejeune@navyjag.onmicrosoft.us. With access to the portal, you can track your claim status, upload additional documents, ask claim-specific questions, and exchange any additional information required for processing and payment. The Camp Lejeune Justice Act Claims Management Portal is available online for individuals to file a claim on their own behalf. There is no fee to access the portal or to file a CLJA claim.

The Department of the Navy is dedicated to processing all CLJA claims as expeditiously and efficiently as possible. The Navy and Department of Justice have worked together to develop an Elective Option that can expedite the review and resolution of certain types of claims. No. The CLJA requires that a claimant first file an administrative claim with the Department of the Navy. If your claim is denied, or if you do not receive a decision on the claim within six (6) months of filing your claim, the CLJA allows a claimant to then proceed to Federal court. The Department of the Navy’s objective is to process all claims as expeditiously as possible, and a claimant is entitled to wait for a decision from the Department of the Navy before deciding if it is in their interest to proceed with litigation. If your claim is denied, you will be advised of your right to file a lawsuit and the time you have to do so (the statute of limitations for filing a lawsuit) in that decision letter.

The United States District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina has exclusive jurisdiction over any lawsuit filed pursuant to the CLJA.
