PACEN SAN DIEGO

Fleet Public Affairs Center (FLTPACEN) San Diego is a standing expeditionary Navy public affairs (PA), visual information (VI), and communication integration support capability. FLTPACEN San Diego is organized, trained and equipped to maintain worldwide deployable and non-deployable PA and VI resources made up of active duty and reserve personnel to support the Secretary of the Navy, the Chief of Naval Operations and the Chief of Information, as well as fleet, regional, Navy component and joint combatant commanders with PA and VI capabilities. All FLTPACEN San Diego forces are expeditionary and are immediately deployable to support current and emerging PA and VI requirements.

Our mission is to provide skilled and combat ready Public Affairs and Visual Information professionals to support Fleet and Combatant Commanders. We train and deploy with operational units, offering a full range of capabilities, including:

  • Multimedia production
  • Still and video imagery

In addition to our operational commitments, FLTPACEN San Diego is a vital training command for the public affairs community, shaping the next generation of communicators through advanced courses and invaluable hands-on experience.

FLTPACEN San Diego is committed to ensuring all reporting Sailors and their families are afforded the greatest opportunity for a successful and productive tour of duty. This commitment begins with sponsor assignment. All sponsor assignments are made via the Career Information Management System (CIMS) within 72 hours of receipt of orders and can be accessed by your Command Career Counselor. You are encouraged to also contact the Sponsor Coordinator as soon as possible and make direct positive contact with a sponsor at your specific FLTPACEN location. You can verify your FLTPACEN location in your orders; the Sponsor Coordinator contact is in your orders and below.

Navy Family Ombudsmen are key resources for family members, particularly during deployments. Ombudsmen maintain current resource files with information on military and civilian community agencies that can help families solve a variety of problems. and successfully meet the challenges they face. Once your sponsor is established in your FLTPACEN location, they can provide their region's Ombudsman information to you.

  • Fleet Deployments: FLTPACEN San Diego personnel often deploy with naval fleets, which may operate in different regions around the globe. This could include deployments on aircraft carriers, amphibious assault ships, destroyers, and other naval vessels.
  • Exercises and Operations: FLTPACEN San Diego personnel deploy to support multinational exercises and operations that involve U.S. Navy participation. These exercises enhance interoperability with allied and partner nations.
  • Humanitarian Missions: During humanitarian missions and disaster relief operations, FLTPACEN San Diego personnel may deploy to provide public affairs support and communicate the Navy's efforts to assist affected populations.
  • Joint Operations: They collaborate with personnel from other branches of the U.S. military, as well as international military forces, in joint operations and coalition efforts.
