Public Affairs Division Officer Leadership Course (PA DIVOLC) CIN: S-570-1001 / CDP: 29JZ (Norfolk Only) :

Course Description:

The Public Affairs Division Officer Leadership course will provide junior Public Affairs Officers the necessary skills to function as effective leaders at the Division Officer level. The course is organized into four functional areas (Navy Organization and Operations, Navy-specific PA Requirements, Leading Sailors, Leading Teams) taught through classroom lessons, practical exercises, fleet unit visits, case studies and graded homework exercises designed to stimulate critical thinking skills and discussion. Through integration of the Navy Leaders Development Framework, each functional area stresses the requirement for junior PAOs to develop as leaders of character, with competence, and through connections.

Unit Public Affairs Representative Training Course (UPAR Training) CIN: S-570-1002 / CDPs*: 30FT (Norfolk), 30FU (San Diego)

Course Description:

The Unit Public Affairs Representative Training Course is designed to provide students with the expectations and knowledge needed to successfully perform the common duties of a Unit Public Affairs Representative throughout the OFRP cycle. Students will leave this course with a greater understanding of their public affairs chain of command, social media use, photo, video and writing skills, tour planning, working with Mass Communication Specialists, community outreach, and OPTASK VI.
